YouTube

Video streaming for everyday viewing

YouTube is a video platform for watching, searching, and sharing content across a wide range of subjects. It suits viewers who want one app for music, tutorials, news, entertainment, live broadcasts, and creator channels. The app is published by Google LLC under the Video Players & Editors category.

What you can do

• Browse recommended videos and search for specific topics, channels, or creators.
• Follow channels through subscriptions and keep track of watched content in your personal library.
• Watch short-form clips, standard videos, and live streams from the same app.
• Interact with creators and other viewers through comments, live chat, and channel updates.
• Record, edit, and upload videos from an Android device, with live broadcasting available for supported accounts.

Navigation and viewing

The app groups discovery, subscriptions, and saved viewing areas into a consistent mobile layout. Playback includes controls for captions and video quality, while account synchronization helps connect viewing activity across supported devices. The large amount of available content is useful for broad interests, although the number of sections and recommendations may feel busy to users who prefer a simpler player.

Ratings and reach

YouTube has a displayed rating of 3.89 out of 5 from more than 168 million reviews. With 10,000,000,000+ installs, it is established as a widely used Android app for both viewing and publishing video. Its range makes it suitable for casual viewers, regular subscribers, and creators who want mobile access to their channels.
